John had a revelation of Christ unlike that of any of the other authors of the Gospels. Of the 12 disciples John also fit into a smaller group of three disciples some would called the inner circle. John alone makes the correlation that Jesus is the bread of Heaven. Jesus is the source
of our continued existence He is the Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Jesus = The Word.
Scripture revealed by faith = The Word.
Jesus is revealed to us through faith in Scripture. How is it that anyone could believe to know Jesus apart from Scripture? John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. I hear people all the time talk about who Jesus is, or isn’t. I wonder where and how they draw their conclusions.
Paul told us that the letter killeth but the spirit giveth life. Paul was referring to just the writing; the vernacular (the words) used void of the Spirit. I believe this reason alone separates the Christian theologian who concludes that scripture contains errors and the atheist that converts and believes. Without partiality God’s Spirit allows the simple and the intellectual to understand His heart as conveyed through scripture. God says My sheep know My voice. We are able to, without the mere use of words, understand God’s will for mankind in general and ourselves in particular through The Word. The relationship with the Creator grows pass gratitude of the forgiven into a friendship like none other.
So back to the question Since God’s knows everything do our choices really matter? Well, what does The Word say? It says that God is not willing (desiring ) that any should perish. However Hell (that was created for the Devil & his angels) has enlarged herself without measure. So either during Isaiah’s time or at the end of the Great White Throne judgement including right now. In other words then, now or sometime in the future Hell is gonna be packed. Hell is or will be packed full of people that Jesus ultimately died for. Isa 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
As we study scripture the concept of “IF” is woven into God’s interactions with mankind. Free will is an irrational freedom to give your creation in my opinion. It’s hard for my simple mind to understand why the Creator God would give his creation a choice not to serve him. If any parent would be honest, they like myself, would thoroughly enjoy a child that does exactly we want at all times… Right? Absolutely! How a spouse like that? Dream come true….Because we can’t control our loved ones (or anyone really) we magnify their differences from us which lead us to believe that opposites attract. So other than male being the opposite of female I’d say we choose the familiar over the foreign. I can agree that some differences carry the allure of intrigue but complete opposites NO WAY. The idea sounds tempting except it’s so far fetched that even the fantasy is short lived. Our fantasy could have been God’s reality but He at great expense to Himself gave you and I free will.
The intellectual may never know why or understand and the simple may never care but we all know we have a choice. If God doesn’t make you choose Him how could I. If God doesn’t make you choose Him then what does He make you choose? The answer is NOTHING. Although we don’t know why, we do know we must choose. You could take philosophical stance considering the validity of various options thinking that you are delaying your choice but that choosing not to choose. Take for instance the person that says with all the religions out there one cannot be sure to give adequate attention to the details necessary to make an intelligent decision as to how to approach the concept (Reality) of “God” so I’ll just leave that to the fanatics and enjoy life. Or the person who in the same vein would say I don’t know enough to conclude either way the existence of God. Then there’s atheist that’s employed to exhaustion attacking and trying to disprove the Creator God they say doesn’t exist. In each case the individual (like you and I) has been presented with and made a choice. So ultimately God knows everything but we still have a choice. Don’t get caught up with How He Knows. Just take what you do know and make a decision. You have the opportunity to choose His ways, or you can do anything else.
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Exo 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
In each of the above verses we see a clear choice presented to us. Each outcome is predicated on our response to the choice. You can choose to believe it or not. According to scripture before the end of this age every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. Have you made the decision to allow Jesus to be Lord in your life? In every area of your life? Since we haven’t arrived, it would be prudent for us to really consider this. If you would like to receive Christ as Lord and Savior recite the prayer at the end of Are you ready for the Rapture?
