Not too long ago I completed a series What am I really here for. This morning as I was waking up the thought occured to me. “What does it mean to choose Christ?” Many if not all that will read this are professing Christians. That is to say if questioned about their religious beliefs they would respond as a Christian. But What do we really believe?
Do we believe the Bible as it is written? Do we believe the Pastor at the church we attend? Do we trust our future to spiritual encounters saying that if it (the encounter) is positive it’s Jesus or if negative it’s the Devil? If we honestly look at the present state of the world and it’s rapid decline in morality and family values it seems to me that something is missing from our profession of faith. Someone said
If you were tried for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?
Decisions are the hardest to make, especially when it’s a choice between what you want and what is right. Choose Christ! Some people view salvation as a single choice but in reality it’s a decision to consistently choose Christ at every turn. Choosing Christ begins with acknowledging that in every area of our lives that conflicts with God (as defined by scripture) that ultimately He is right and we are wrong. From there we can truly turn from our own ways (repent) and embrace the ways of God. It doesn’t matter about our past because in Christ we become made new.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
What this scripture is saying that once we are born again or in Christ we are in present tense a new creature. In other words we have a new nature. As a new creature we desire fellowship with God more than the pleasures of sin. In our pursuit of God He begins to teach us His ways. That is what it means to be made new. You can also be made new, and after being made new before, you can be made new again. There’s no limit on the creator of all things. God doesn’t recycle or merely re-purpose us He makes us new. If you want to be made new or made new again say the following prayer.
Dear Heavenly father I come before you now in the name of Jesus. Lord, I thank you for continuing to draw me by your Spirit. I ask for your forgiveness for all of my sin. I repent for thinking that I could live this life without total dependency on you. I repent for my lack of prayer, reverence and dedication to you. Father I believe that you sent Jesus to shed his innocent blood and to die in my place that I might have fellowship with you through his name. I believe that you raised him from the dead by your Holy Spirit and that Jesus is now seated on your right-hand praying continuously for me. I renounce all my compromise with the enemy through dead works in my flesh. I ask you now Jesus not only to be my savior but that from this day until my last be my Lord. Father right now in your presence and the holy angels I declare you alone to be my Lord in Jesus mighty name amen.
If you said this prayer from your heart be sure to get plugged in to a local body of believers. If you have a church home start there if not ask the person who sent you this when their services are being held. God Bless until we meet in Heaven.
