Last week in Do I really believe? I challenged readers to really think about a previous post Lord I believe! If you have yet to read those posts I would start there. Every now and then it’s good to ask yourself what do I believe; what matters most in my belief system. More importantly after some self discovery being able to answer the question why do I believe what I believe.
Since the beginning, mankind has had three most predominant questions. I believe we through the course of our life (on earth) develop those answers specific to ourselves. For some the answer to “where did I come from” is found in the Big Bang Theory for others like me Intelligent design for others yet some mix in between. Now the answer to the second question “what is my purpose?” the responses are seemingly endless although I will summarize into two categories. The first category would suggest that your purpose is to find out and to do what you enjoy and what you feel good at doing (without infringing the freedoms of others). The second category would be to find out your talents and abilities and how they can be used to accomplish the will of another. The ever increasing adoption of the first category has led (I believe) to rise in narcissism. I intend to explore over the next few weeks the topic What am I really here for? So in our culture today, an increasing number of people, are looking within themselves to determine their purpose. Gone (almost) are the days of looking to something bigger than us to submit to in order to find meaning to life. It would be foolish, crazy even, (to me) that somebody could by faith look within themselves to find meaning or purpose. Yet today many if not most do just that and some even are professing Christians. Help me get this conversation going by sharing using the buttons below.
