You probably never thought you would see a post with the title like this here @ liv4Christ4ever. Well you did, there it is boom! I’d like to start by saying emphatically, NO… well maybe…. I don’t really know let’s consider.
Is Jesus an idol?
Yep all that was just a hook but I will attempt to explain three sides to this coin. The answer can only truly be yes or no but the third element maybe comes into play depending on the context that you were talking about.
I believe that Jesus is the second person in the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost). I believe according to Scripture Jesus was a participant in the creation of all things created.
If you google search “is Jesus an idol” it reflects quite a few opinions that indicate yes not only as an idol but referring to Jesus as God or worshiping Him as breaking the first of the ten commandments. As I considered the information listed it was glaring to me, all that wasn’t listed according to the Bible.
Is Jesus an idol?
From the birth of Jesus we see several times where Jesus is worshiped. By the Heavenly hosts, the shepherds, the wise men, led by a star came to worship Him. So they might likely argue but he was a baby and couldn’t tell them to worship God alone to which I would say true but even during his public ministry many vexed with demons or disease worshiped Jesus to be freed of their infirmities.
None of those occasions did Jesus rebuke the people for worshiping Him.
Just after the last supper (I believe in Gethsemane) while praying Jesus prays these words
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5
We see in this passage Jesus reflecting on a time before incarnation in His present state on earth. In my simple mind I see everything living in one of two categories. 1) Creator or 2 )Creature. The bible in several passages confirms Jesus existence during creation and how he came forth from the father. From these scriptures in context I conclude that Jesus must be equal to (although different in function) or one in the same as the creator God. Therefore Jesus like the Father can not be an idol because He truly is God.
Next week I intend to explore the other side of the argument and for the smart people that find it hard to stand on one side or the other (make decisions) maybe. So what do you think?

Phillipians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Mat 28:5-10 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
